Badgerfest Festival 2021

Badgerfest is a weekend long metal festival taking place in Manchester from the 15th-17th of October. Beginning back in 2017, the first year was a massive success, selling out pretty swiftly and sporting a great line-up of fantastic underground metal bands. The subsequent two years also did massively well before the 2020 show was sadly postponed due to the world descending into chaos. However, the organisers are back with a vengeance this year, bringing one hell of a line-up to The Bread Shed towards the end of the year. And at just £30 a ticket you can’t exactly go wrong!

Headlining the Friday night are the lovely named Foetal Juice, a British death metal band formed back in 2005. Having two fantastic albums under their belt, 2016s Masters of Absurdity and 2020s Gluttony, it is clear that the band don’t take themselves all too seriously. However, being a famously great live, these will not be ones to miss and may very well be the highlight of the whole festival.

Saturday night headliners Krysthla are no strangers to the festival, having headlined the very first one four years ago. The extreme metal band have been on quite the roll since their debut album in 2015, and have gone from strength to strength with each of the two subsequent releases. Having featured in Kerrang! magazine as well as playing other fantastic festivals and venues across the country like Bloodstock, The Old Salutation and Camden’s famous Underworld. Anyone who has seen them before or even just listened to them knows how good they are so are a fantastic get for the festival again!

Finally, the Sunday night headliner are another fantastic band and actually one of my favourites at the minute, Raging Speedhorn. The Northamtonshire native metal band were formed way back in 1998 when members of the bands Soulcellar and Box joined together. Touting six albums across the two stints the band have had together, they have racked up an impressive number of sales and streams, as well as touring with the likes of Slipknot and Mudvayne across Europe back in the day, as well as being part of the fantastic ‘Tattoo The Planet’ tour back in 2001.

The band have seemingly played just about everywhere in their time together and are still putting out some damn good studio materal too, with last year’s Hard To Kill album being maybe the best received yet. Somehow, I have missed these guys every time they have played near me in recent years so I would recommend heading along to this to see them for me!

The rest of the festival is just as packed as the headliners, too. Bands such as Ramageinc, Harbinger, Borders, Kingwich and the wonderfully odd Red Method, among many, many others. See the full line-up down below as well as links of where to buy a ticket from. This would definitely be one I would recommend if you’re into the heavier music and are anywhere near local, as it is one of the best line-ups of the year.

Tickets available here. Check out the lineup below:
